ABOUT CINDI JO

Cindi has been a long-arm machine quilter fsince 2004. She enjoys being creative.

Important Steps for Getting Your Quilt Ready
Following these steps will help your quilt look its best and may save you from extra charges.

  1. Your top, batting, and backing must be squared.
    – Measure and square your quilt top before applying borders to help avoid wavy edges.
    – Rip backing fabric if it’s a large piece. It’s easier and more accurate than cutting a long straight edge.
  2. – Remove selvages to help avoid puckers.
  3. Even the edges.
  4. – Trim excess fabric from edges.
  5. Clip loose threads on the fronts and backs of the top and backing. They may show through, or add small lumps.
  6. Press your pieces well. Fold lightly.
  7. Do not baste or pin your quilt.
  8. Place a single safety pin to mark the top center edge of your quilt top and back, if necessary.
  9. Backing and batting has to be 4–6 inches wider and longer than your quilt top. For example: 50"x 50” top = 54”x 54” batting and backing.
